Soft capsules

We produce soft capsules as well as lollipops and various forms of tablets. For more information on how soft capsules are made, have a look at our page on capsule production.

What are soft capsules made of?

Soft capsules are comprised of a gelatine-based shell or plant-based materials, including starch and carrageenan, and can be filled with liquids or pastes.

When are soft capsules used?

Soft capsules are used to orally administer non-aqueous liquids and semi-solids as single-dose solids. They are also well suited for low dose, high potency drugs that have a low melting point or a critical stability profile. Additionally, they are used in the production of medicinal products that require a sustained release.

Advantages of capsules

Soft capsules offer several advantages. They enable safe filling. The active ingredients are often better absorbed than in tablets. They are also easy to take orally.

  • Safe and secure filling
